"Light for Education is a community based on the belief in the power of education and initiation... To shape personality, establish self-confidence and instill in young children the courage to dream."

our vision
Our vision for a diverse and valued Israeli society, in which everyone has an equal opportunity for self-fulfillment, begins with the people. In the light of education, we focus on the individual and work to strengthen the sense of belonging and meaning of children and youth while striving to strengthen their self-confidence, belief in their abilities, skills and involvement in society and the community. We believe that children and youth who feel belonging and meaningful will be the ones who will lead to social change and contribute to the strengthening of the local community and the resilience of Israeli society.
what are we doing
Orr's mentoring program for education is a unique program in which high schoolers mentor sixth graders, in preparation for the transition to middle school. We place emphasis on strengthening the self-image, sense of security, belonging and ability of the trainees (sixth graders) and the tutors as part of individual and group activities. The Or branches for education are led by fellow students in the positions of branch heads and training coordinators.

I learn a lot from my apprenticeship. You learn that in a few sessions you can feel real closeness. Learning to be a significant figure for others. After each of our encounters me and Shilat have a jar in which we write our dreams for years to come and also the experiences and lessons we learned from the encounter. It's really amazing!

Tair, mentor
I feel like I'm really going through a journey in the light of education. That we all go through a journey .. In this journey I discover a lot about myself - that I can be attentive to others, that I am able to be more open. I understand that I have the ability to make others happy and I want to use it all my life.
And
- Ronel
When I arrived at the first meeting, a mentor was attached to me. In a short time she became like my big sister. Admittedly I only met her once a week but it turns out it was long enough to connect and turn me from a small and shy student into someone who is able to speak, perform and express an opinion in front of dozens and hundreds of people. In ninth grade I decided it was time to donate back and decided to join Orr for education as a mentor. My trainee was just like me - shy and closed who comes from a complex family. At the end of the process he was not as shy as at first. The process made me realize that I did close a circle!

The program works to develop and promote 10th, 11th and 12th grade students as mentors through pre-training and mentoring. On the other hand, it works to promote and strengthen the sense of belonging of sixth-graders by creating a meaningful social framework. Students are exposed to lectures, peak events, intensive activities and individual activities between mentor and trainee.
